Introduction

BiVictriX Therapeutics is an early-stage biotechnology company that is designing the next generation of highly specific cancer therapeutics based on its proprietary Bi-Cygni approach to drug discovery. We are currently looking for an innovative biologist with experience in cancer drug discovery to head our Biology team based at Alderley Park outside Manchester.


Position Description

Reporting to the company’s chief scientific officer, the Senior Principal Scientist, Biology, will take day-to-day responsibility for designing, conducting and analysing all in-house preclinical studies performed to assess the biological properties of BiVictriX’s bispecific antibody-drug conjugates. The position is lab-based, and the incumbent will also have responsibility for the training, supervision and development of a junior laboratory biologist. This individual will be expected to contribute actively to the overall biology strategy of the company, as well as to the design and oversight of biological studies performed at contract research organisations and academic collaborators, and ensure efficient planning and coordination of work in conjunction with the team responsible for production of novel test agents. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring effective day-to-day management of the company’s laboratory facilities and equipment, including compliance with all applicable health, safety and environmental regulations.


Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications

· Broad experience of cellular and molecular methods for the characterization of anti-tumour agents, including cytotoxicity assays, fluorescence microscopy and FACS

· Experience of the design and implementation of novel cell-based assays to assess the biological functions and mechanism of action of anti-tumour agents

· Prior experience of the design and characterisation of biotherapeutics is highly desirable but not essential

· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Graphpad Prism, and other data management systems

· Excellent communications skills, both orally and in writing

· Evidence of successful prior supervision of laboratory staff is desirable but not essential

· M.Sc. and eight years of experience (or equivalent) in a biological discipline is essential; Ph.D. is desirable
